Het begon allemaal in de jaren 60 toen Fred Schneider senior Kampeerhal Schneider opende. Het kamperen kwam net op en er ontstond vraag naar tenten en toebehoren.
Begin jaren 90 kwam meer vraag naar lichtgewicht specialisatie. Daar werd op ingespeeld door zoon Daan Schneider met een outdoorwinkel in de binnenstad van Den Bosch.
Nu 30 jaar later is Schneider Outdoor uit de binnenstad verhuisd naar Rosmalen. Daar, op de Oude Baan 12, heeft Quint van Houtum nu het ‘stokje overgenomen’.
Quint is op outdoor gebied zeer goed onderricht. Na zijn opleiding Outdoor en Adventure aan het Helicon studeerde hij af op de Fontys Hogeschool in Sportkunde, Leisure en Adventure. Na diverse praktijk stages in het buitenland, en bijbaantjes als reisgids en klim/ski instructeur, is hij in dienst getreden bij Schneider Outdoor. Daar heeft hij naast zijn praktijkkennis ook zijn productkennis opgedaan.
Met een nieuwe verjongde en frisse kijk op de huidige markt is Quint een duurzamere richting ingeslagen. Zo worden alle web-bestellingen verpakt in gerecycled materiaal en er wordt geen onnodig plastic gebruikt. Er wordt ook zoveel mogelijk gekozen voor merken die een duurzaam beleid voeren. Niet alleen het productieproces is daarbij belangrijk maar er wordt ook gekeken naar de levensduur en repareerbaarheid van de producten. Waar mogelijk worden ook bewust productie landen gemeden die het niet zo nauw nemen met de regels. Liefst kiest Quint voor “made in Europe”
