Cochabamba to Sucre. Incallajta, Colonial Villages and the White City. 2 Days, 1 Night.
You will be picked up from your hotel, airport, or bus station in Cochabamba. After a scenic journey through Andean villages, traditional farmland, and stunning landscapes, you arrive at the largest and most significant Inca site in Bolivia.
We are completely obsessed with Incallajta, and we will share everything we know about it. This magnificent fortress served as the easternmost stronghold of the Inca Empire. Around 1470, the Inca settled here in a site whose name means “Land of the Inca.” The complex remained inhabited until 1525 and to this day it stands as the largest Inca city in Bolivia. Highlights include sweeping views over a beautiful valley and a 30-meter waterfall hidden in the heart of the ruins.
After exploring Incallajta, the journey continues to the small colonial town of Chimboata, where time seems to stand still.

From Incallajta and Chimboata, a short 20-minute drive brings you to Totora, one of the most beautifully preserved colonial villages in Bolivia. Its impressive architecture tells the story of a city that was once among the most important in the region. Thanks to its central location, Totora was a key trading hub connecting Sucre, Potosí, and Santa Cruz. Today it remains a major centre for the production of coca leaves, potatoes, and grain.
During your time in Totora, all the highlights are covered. including a visit to a traditional chicha factory and a wander through streets that feel like they belong to another century. After sunset, we take a leisurely evening walk through the village before settling in for the night at Don Félix, the finest hotel in town.
The next morning, the journey continues from Totora to Aiquile along a cobblestone road that climbs over passes of 4,000 meters above sea level. The views over the Andean mountains are nothing short of spectacular. After around two hours, you arrive in Aiquile, home to a fascinating museum dedicated to the charango, the iconic Andean string instrument. The museum also houses an impressive collection of archaeological finds from the surrounding area.
In the late afternoon, you arrive in Sucre, where you will be dropped off at the hotel or hostel of your choice.
