This trip is for those who don’t seek the comfort of our Eco Lodge and want to go deep into the jungle of Madidi to discover, feel and live a unique experience. Feel the nature learning how to recognize toxic, allergic, anesthetic and healing plants from our native guides. Dinner and rest
We wake up very early (05:00) for a walk around the lodge. Enjoy the noisy concert of howler monkeys and a variety of birds that greeting the new day. After breakfast, we have the activity “Learning Tacana Culture.” Following guide’s explanations you can make crafts, peel rice using a large wooden mortar (tacu) or practicing marksmanship with traditional bow and arrows. After lunch, we cross the river on the boat and walk around the bamboo jungle. Deeper inside the forest we enjoy watching such huge trees. We can also observe hoatzin, herons and kingfisher in little gaps. On our way back to the lodge we could see capybaras walking on the banks of the Tuichi river. After dinner if we still have some energy left we can have a short night hike to see the eyes of alligators, lizards, frogs and snakes using flashlights.
After typical breakfast, we take camping equipment and make a small trek into the deep jungle where we spend the night in a tent or under a mosquito net. This activity is really interesting because it allows you to have closer contact with nature and observe animals such as spider monkeys, howler monkeys, a variety of birds. In the evening a short walk with great opportunities to see giant armadillos, snakes, tapirs. The growl of the jaguar or puma is often heard during the night.
Day 4 .
A nutritious breakfast that we call “jaguar tracks” give us the energy to go deeper into the forest, where nimble monkeys live in complete harmony with nature, as we walk we can see large groups of wild pigs, variety of birds such as toucans and orioles. After lunch we take our bags and go to our shelter “The Arenalito” where we arrive at sunset. At night we can observe (fairly easily) mammals such as deer, armadillos and tapirs. Furthermore, you are able to see reptiles’ eyes, among others.
Before breakfast we go to “the macaws farallon” this is the nesting and feeding area for macaws and parrots (one of the best places to observe these colorful and noisy birds). You can also enjoy landscapes. Finishing the trip, we are able to build a “callapo” (a callapo is a river transport built by indigenous people from the Amazon) and return to the lodge, but if you want you can return in our comfortable boat.
