Takesi Classic 2 or 3-Day Inca Trek

The Takesi trek is a popular trek from La Paz with some of the best Inca paving in the Andes. Mostly downhill it passes through cloud forest to semi tropical rainforest. It is available to trek in 2 or 3 days.

Itinerary

DAY 1 – La Paz – Ventilla – Takesi Village
We pick you up around 7 am from your central La Paz hotel or hostel and we drive to the village of Ventilla, passing by wonderful views of Illamani mountain along the way. From here we start our trek with a steep uphill walk that takes 1 to 2 hours. At the top we find a good view of the valley below and shortly after some oncredibly well preserved inca paving. We trek downwards through the mountain scenery for around 3 hours until we reach the village of Takesi. The village is an anceint village unchanged for centuries and mainly home to llama and alpaca herders. We continue on a little past the village to our camp site for the evening.

DAY 2 – Takesi – Chollja Village
Today is a long day so we get up early and have breakfast before setting off on our trek again. We are continuing mostly downhill and as we descend the valleys become more tropical and lush , we pass and cross rivers and have some amazing views in the lower valleys. It will take all day to reach the mining village of Chollija were we end our trek and take our private transport back to La Paz.

3-DAY OPTION
If you choose to do this trek over three days the route will be the same but with shorter days and we finish at Yanacachi instead of Chollija. Yanacachi is a charming little village with an old church and much nicer than Chollija, although a little further along the road about 1 hour more walking.
The route would be as follows:
Day 1 – Ventilla to Takesi
Day 2 – Takesi to Kakapi
Day 3 – Kakapi to Yanacachi
