Kayaking on Lake Titicaca Day Trip  –  A unique way to see the worlds highest navigable lake and visit areas seldom seen by tourists.Kayaking to islands, wonderful views of Andean mountain ranges, secret beachs and coves  – the best way to experience the lake and get out of the city for a day.

We leave La Paz at aroudn 7am to start the drive towards the Lake, passing through the city of El Alto and beyond we will see views of the cordillera mountain range. After about 2 hours we will stop at the Totora Reed museum and learn about the traditional forms of transport on the lake and the usage of the locally grown Totora reeds. You should bring some cash with you as you might want to purchase a souvenir here.
We continue on our drive for a further 30 minutes before we find our secret launch spot, We will ready the equipment , inflate the kayaks and recieve a safety briefing about the day. Once the kayaks are ready (approximately 11am – although traffic in El Alto can effect our timings) we will start paddling out onto the lake and after about 30 to 45 minutes of kayaking we will reach a small beach on an island and we will spend some time exploring. There are wonderful views from here of the mountains and we will stop to take photos and take in the scenery. We will spend about 30 minutes here (until approx 1pm) Â and have a snack before returning to the kayaks.
We continue to paddle across the lake admiring the wonderful views and taking in the fresh air. Depending on the speed of out group we should arrive to a pebble beach near a village at about 3pm, where we will rest. After the all the exercise and fresh air we should have worked up an appetite and after packing up the equipment we will drive to the village of Huatajata and have our lunch. We return to La Paz between 5pm and 7pm depending on traffic and how fast the group has been.
N.B – Â This tour needs a minimum of two people to leave but we can check for other people if you are a solo traveler or you can pay a solo traveller supplement if you wish to go with just one person.. Leaving time is early approx 7.00am (exact time will be confirmed when booking is confirmed). Return time varies and is usually from 5pm to 7pm.

IMPORTANT Â INFORMATION
This tours takes place at  high altitudes of 3600m to 4000m so you it is advisable to have spent a day or two at this altitude to get used to it so you can fully enjoy it. A moderate fitness level is recommended.The sun can be strong here and this is strenghened by the reflection of the water so sunglasses and sun cream are essential.
Children of age 12+ can participate in this activity but only if they have some experience of kayaking / canoeing.
All participants MUST be able to swim – it is not required to be an exceptional swimmer and life jackets are provided but ithis is a water sport and basic swimming ability and confidence in the water are required.
