3 days Nature and Culture in the heart of the Bolivian Amazon Rainforest
This tour is a collaboration of El Mundo verde Travel with Mashaquipe. Mashaquipe is a tour operator with a “Green Action” certificate in Rurrenabaque.
Ideal trip for those who want to do several things in a short time. During this trip you can make boating, day and night walks in the Madidi National Park Amazon rainforest, where, with some luck you will watch monkeys, tapirs, wild boars, birds, alligators, capybaras. You also have the opportunity to learn about our culture by visiting our families. For those who want to feel and have close contact with nature we offer a night of camping deep in the jungle.
Day 1. Boat trip down the river Beni. Visit to a community dedicated to the production of sugarcane honey where you can taste the delicious juice and learn a little about the life of the community. During the boat trip along the rivers Beni and Tuichi enjoy incomparable landscapes such as the Bala Cannon (el cañon del Bala). As soon as you get to the Lodge “Mashaquipe” have a refreshing welcome fruit juice and accommodation (at the lodge Mashaquipe). Lunch. In the afternoon, a leisurely walk on trails specially designed for learning about the jungle, so you are able to see animals like monkeys and wild pigs. Feel the nature learning how to recognize toxic, allergic, anesthetic and healing plants from our native guides. Dinner and rest.
Day 2. We wake up very early (05:00) for a walk around the lodge, enjoy the noisy concert of howler monkeys and a variety of birds greeting the new day. After breakfast, we have the activity “Learning Tacana culture.” You can make crafts, peel rice using a large wooden mortar (tacu) or practicing marksmanship with traditional bow and arrows following guide’s explanations. After lunch we take camping equipment and make a small trek into the deep jungle where we spend the night in a tent or under a mosquito net. This activity is really interesting because it allows you to have closer contact with nature and observe animals such as spider monkeys, howler monkeys and a variety of birds. In the evening a short walk with great opportunities to see giant armadillos, snakes and tapirs. The growl of the jaguar and puma is often heard during the night (flexible activity, if you want to participate only).
Day 3. After breakfast we have a walk (2 hours) towards “Macaws Farallon” this is the nesting and feeding area for macaws and parrots (one of the best places to observe these colorful and noisy birds). You can also enjoy landscapes. Finishing the trip, we are able to build a “callapo” (a callapo is a river transport built by indigenous people from the Amazon) and return to the lodge, but if you want you can return in our comfortable boat. Lunch and return to Rurrenabaque (16:00 pm)
